Session Info.
What to expect.
Your session will typically run for about one hour. I feel this is long enough for everyone to get comfortable but short enough that it doesn’t start to feel like a chore. I prefer shooting in the hour before sunset for outdoor sessions as this gives your images the loveliest and most complimentary lighting. This time can be adjusted if absolutely necessary but I do strongly advise sticking with sunset - you will thank me when you see your images! For in home sessions, I generally like to begin at 9-10am. I like to be playful and fun for little ones and I go to great lengths to get smiles and giggles (from Dads too). It’s important to me that everyone is comfortable, happy and relaxed so I really dedicate myself to just going with the flow and allowing little ones to explore and play during the session. I feel I get the best pictures when I let kids just be kids. I will gentle guide them when I need to but ultimately, I want everyone to be enjoying themselves. There is no stress about trying to make children smile, sit still or say cheese! We always get there in the end and by taking a laid back approach, we achieve much more natural and beautiful family photos.
What to wear.
Picking your outfits for your shoot can feel like a daunting task. I am here to help! Before your session, you are more than welcome to ask my advice, send me pictures or allow me to help you choose what to wear. The most important thing when it comes to your clothes, is that you are comfortable. Wear clothes that make you feel good and that are easy to wear (don’t choose clothes that will slip down or ride up etc). Choose clothing that fits well (this includes for babies and little ones). Avoid clothing that has large slogans or brand names that are visible. Choose colours that compliment each other (you could do all neutrals, jewel tones, blues etc).

Locations.
The location of your shoot really influences the feel of your images so it’s important to choose the right place for you photos. Do you want beautiful long grass and trees? A beachy feel? An urban shoot in the middle of the city? Or perhaps in your family home? I have many favourite spots in Brisbane and surrounds for your shoot. The possibilities are almost endless!
